Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy stated on Sunday that conflict with the Centre will not solve the state’s issues. He criticized the state government for making unnecessary complaints against the Centre and questioned why state officials often blame Union ministers and MPs representing the state.
Kumaraswamy suggested that issues will not be resolved through conflict and urged the state government to effectively present the state’s situation to the Centre. He asked how the state can progress if Union ministers are restricted from visiting areas like Mandya.
He emphasized the need for the state government to communicate honestly with the Prime Minister and maintain cordial relations with the Centre for the state’s development. Kumaraswamy noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had personally assured support during the Kodagu floods.
He also questioned why the state government has not fostered a cooperative atmosphere with the Centre. Kumaraswamy stated that Karnataka was not disadvantaged in the current Union Budget, which he said prioritizes all states. He mentioned that the Budget includes projects for Andhra Pradesh and special packages for Bihar, addressing issues like the Polavaram project and flooding from Nepal.
Regarding the Cauvery issue, Kumaraswamy said discussions on the Mekedatu project had taken place with Prime Minister Modi.
