Kritika Kamra recently talked about a significant career moment involving a failed film project. The actress was set to star in a film adaptation of Vanity Fair, produced by Karan Johar and Ektaa Kapoor. The project, which was to be a Hindi version of Mira Nair’s film starring Reese Witherspoon, was shelved due to financial problems.
Kamra was originally cast to appear with Emraan Hashmi, with Akshay Roy, known for Meri Pyaari Bindu, set to direct. The film had moved into advanced pre-production stages, with schedules and readings already completed. Despite this, it was abandoned because of business and financial issues.
Kamra shared that this project would have been her Bollywood debut, noting the disappointment when it was canceled. She mentioned that it was the first film she had signed. She added that the missed opportunity was particularly disheartening since she had left television and was eager to enter the film industry.
Despite this setback, Kamra’s career has continued to progress. She made her film debut with Mitron and has since appeared in the Zee5 web series Gyaarah Gyaarah. In this series, she plays a police officer, a role she secured through auditions. Kamra appreciated the chance to demonstrate her skills and versatility through such opportunities.
