Air India on Microsoft Outage: no flights cancelled, only minor delays

Must read

New Delhi

On Saturday, Air India announced that none of its flights were cancelled due to the major CrowdStrike-Microsoft outage, although some delays occurred due to the outage’s impact on airport services. The Microsoft Windows outage caused delays and cancellations for hundreds of flights, including those by IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air.

None of Air India’s flights on July 19 were cancelled due to the worldwide travel systems outage, though there were some delays caused by its impact on airport services, an Air India spokesperson confirmed. The airline also assured that its own robust IT infrastructure remained unaffected and continued to function normally.

Delhi Airport saw significant disruptions, with more than 400 flights delayed and over 50 cancelled, according to data from flightradar24. IndiGo, a low-cost carrier, experienced delays and cancellations and responded by activating ‘war rooms’ at four major airports to manage operations. Other airlines, including Akasa and SpiceJet, also faced disruptions in their flight schedules.
