RTI activist seeks suspension of corrupt officials

Right to information activist Bhimappa Gadad said that he has written a letter to the government seeking the suspension of the Joint Director of Social Welfare department and senior official of scheduled caste welfare department, for illegally granting admissions to residential schools. Speaking to media on the premises of Kannada Sahitya Bhavan, Bhimappa Gadad said that admissions have been made without considering the merit or caste in 39 different residential schools of the social welfare department in Belagavi district.

Besides this, 141 students have been admitted without permission from the department by the officials. Senior officials of directorate of civil rights enforcement and association of Karnataka residential educational institutions, Bengaluru have reviewed the case and recommended to the govt that a departmental inquiry should be conducted and appropriate action should be taken against the negligent officials.

The two officials of district who violated the rules should be immediately suspended from service and a departmental inquiry should be ordered. In this regard, a letter has been written to the Minister of Social Welfare and the Chief Secretary of the government, he said.
