Sri Lanka’s cabinet has approved a national policy for indigenous medicine, which will be implemented from 2024 to 2034, according to a government statement. President Ranil Wickremesinghe proposed this initiative, and it was created after consultations with experts. Until now, there has not been a unified policy to guide indigenous medicine services.
This new approach aims to address current challenges, integrate indigenous practices into the national healthcare system, and preserve these traditions for future generations. The government hopes this policy will enhance access to these important health services and provide better support for their development over the next decade.
