Bengaluru, known for its high incidence of dengue cases statewide, is witnessing a concerning rise in the disease. Currently, nearly 3,000 cases have been reported in the city, resulting in three fatalities. The municipal corporation’s house-to-house survey, aimed at raising awareness and eliminating mosquito breeding sites, has uncovered alarming trends.
Health officials from BBMP have voiced apprehension over the growing community transmission within the city. Of the reported cases, 75% are concentrated in apartment complexes rather than slum areas, indicating a higher incidence in luxury residences. A survey by the municipal corporation highlighted that high-rise buildings are particularly vulnerable to dengue mosquito breeding.
In response to the escalating crisis, BBMP is planning a targeted awareness campaign specifically tailored for apartment residents. As dengue cases continue to escalate in Bengaluru, the municipal corporation has expressed grave concern over the rapid spread of the disease within residential complexes.
