Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has awarded contracts to consultants for conducting feasibility studies, marking a significant stride in expanding its network to the city’s outskirts. Under this initiative, the Metro agency has selected firms to explore the viability of extending Metro lines and constructing double-decker flyovers as part of its Phase 3 project.
Sources within BMRCL said that Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd, based in Hyderabad, has been entrusted with preparing a feasibility study report for the extension of Bengaluru Metro’s Green Line. This extension spans from Madavara (BIEC) to Tumakuru, covering a distance of 52.4 km under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The contract, valued at Rs 1.25 crore, was awarded on June 29.
Aarvee Associates will assess the feasibility of extending Bengaluru Metro’s Green Line to Tumakuru, enhancing connectivity through this crucial corridor, a source disclosed.
In addition to this, Aarvee Associates has also secured another contract to conduct feasibility studies for three Metro corridors covering a total of 50 km. These corridors include Challaghatta – Bidadi, Silk Institute – Harohalli, and Bommasandra – Attibele.
Meanwhile, Introsoft Solutions, headquartered in New Delhi, has been tasked with conducting a feasibility study for a proposed 60 km Metro corridor stretching from Kalene Agrahara (Gottigere) to various key points such as Jigani, Anekal, Attibele, Sarjapur, Varthur, and Kadugodi Tree Park.
According to a senior official at BMRCL, The feasibility studies will critically assess the potential for Metro, suburban rail, or Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in these areas. The findings will guide the state government and BMRCL board in making informed decisions regarding infrastructure development.
