Members of the People’s Vimukthi Andolana staged a protest in Bengaluru against the recent allotment of land originally designated under the Ashraya scheme. The demonstrators voiced their dissent, specifically targeting the district collector with slogans.
In 2015, the Deputy Commissioner had allocated 9 acres and 20 guntas of land in Gollalli Survey No. 39, Gollalli South constituency, on the outskirts of Bengaluru for the benefit of the homeless in Gollahalli village. However, there have been reports that the same land is being reconsidered for alternative allocation, prompting outrage among local residents of Gollahalli who believe it should remain dedicated to their community.
