In Dakshina Kannada district, schools have received 90 percent of textbooks, although distribution remains incomplete despite the academic year’s commencement. Government schools have provided two sets of uniforms to enrolled students. Additionally, the district has hired 1,093 guest faculty for primary schools and 249 for secondary schools, marking a slight increase from the previous academic year’s numbers of 1,055 and 254, respectively. Permanent teacher appointments were also made in several government schools last year. Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Venkatesha Subraya Patagara noted that textbook distribution stood at 57 percent at the start of the academic year.
