Struggle To Get 2A Reservation To Panchmasali Society Restarted

Dharwad
MLA Vinaya Kulkarni’s residence in the city was besieged by Jayamrityunjaya Swamiji of Panchamasali Peetha, demanding that the government be compelled to provide 2A reservation for Panchamasali Samaj during the monsoon session.
The demand for reservation by the Panchmasali Samaj has not been addressed by the current government led by Siddaramaiah. MLAs were urged to exert pressure on the government during the session. There has been ongoing agitation for this reservation, including a protest where lingam pooja was performed on the highway. Despite these efforts, the government has not responded, prompting warnings of intensified agitation if their demands are not met.
Swamiji insisted that MLA Vinaya Kulkarni take the lead in this struggle, akin to community leader Basavaraj Patil Yatnal’s efforts during the BJP government’s tenure. It was stated that they would visit the homes of all society’s MLAs, laying siege to demand their rights.
Responding to the plea via video conference from Bangalore due to a court ban from entering Dharwad district, MLA Vinaya Kulkarni assured Swamiji that the issue of Panchmasali Samaj’s demand for reservation would be raised in the session. He emphasized that the struggle would continue until 2A reservation is secured for the future of the community’s children. A padayatra from Ulavi Basaveshwara temple in the city saw hundreds of Panchamasali community members participating in support.
