Tabakadhonnalli Panchayat in Kalaghatagi taluk is facing significant challenges with basic amenities like electricity and clean water supply, worsened by a year-long drought. Despite bringing the issue to the attention of taluk officials multiple times, no action has been taken. During a recent visit, the District Collector appointed nodal officers, but due to neglect from local authorities, villagers staged a protest at the village panchayat today due to the prolonged water scarcity they have endured over the past eight months.
The village’s main road has three water supply pipes, but frequent breakdowns in motor machines have caused prolonged periods without electricity, leaving residents in darkness. Repair work on the Jaljeevan machine in the Gram Panchayat area has also contributed to inadequate water supply. Villagers have also complained about insufficient water supply due to ongoing repairs on the water supply pipeline to the village, attributing these issues to the contractor responsible for Jaljeevan machine operations.
Additionally, villagers highlighted problems with poorly constructed roads and the inadequate filling of water tanks. Frustrated with the lack of response from officials, villagers warned through their protest that they might lock the village panchayat if the situation persists. The protest was attended by local elders and residents, emphasizing their concerns about the ongoing hardships faced by the community.
