Pedestrian Dies On Spot After BRTS Bus Collides With It, Public Protests

A Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), Chigari bus collided with a pedestrian who died on the spot near Gurudut Bhavan in Vidya Nagar of the city. Gangadhar Basavantappa Mammigatti (84) of Manjunath Nagar, Gokul Road in the city, died.
The accident occurred when a Chigari bus was crossing from one road to another and was going from Hubli to Dharwad. The dead body of the old man was sent to KIMS Hospital. In this regard, the police of North Traffic Station visited the place and checked and registered a case.
The public blamed the high speed of the Chigari bus for the accident. Also, the protestors condemned the death of the old man on the spot and expressed outrage by shouting contempt against the BRTS.
One accident after another is happening due to Chigari bus, and the accident caused by BRTS should be stopped. BRTS should ensure that the lives of pedestrians are not endangered. If not, the protestors warned that there will be fierce struggle in the coming days.
