KPCC Working President and MLC Manjunath Bhandary suggested that the Boliyar incident was a planned conspiracy by the BJP to create unrest. He stated that while everyone has the right to hold a Vijayotsava during elections or cricket matches, permission must be obtained by political parties. Bhandary questioned the necessity of holding a Vijayotsava and raising slogans near a religious shrine. He denied BJP’s claims that their workers were attacked for chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai,’ accusing BJP leaders of misleading the public. He urged BJP leaders to introspect and verify the provocative slogans raised by their workers.
Udupi-Chikmagalur MP-elect Kota Shrinivas Poojari, who visited the Boliyar stab victims in a private hospital, criticized the law and order situation in Karnataka. He claimed that chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ has been criminalized, while those shouting pro-Pakistan slogans inside Vidhan Soudha are protected. Poojari warned that the BJP would launch protests if the government, aided by the police, continues such actions. He demanded the withdrawal of cases against BJP workers involved in the Boliyar incident.
