Municipal councils and committees in Haryana will no longer require no-objection certificates (NOCs) for the purchase or sale of agricultural land within urban areas, announced Subhash Sudha, the state’s MoS for Urban Local Bodies, on Thursday. Landowners can now proceed directly with property registrations without the need to pay property tax or development fees. Currently, there are approximately 252,000 such properties across the state.

Addressing the media, Minister Sudha outlined that permissions will be granted for the sale of vacant plots situated within urban colonies. Applicants are required to clear any outstanding property taxes and fees as part of the process. He highlighted the benefits of this move, stating, this initiative will directly benefit 430,000 properties. Moreover, property owners who have self-certified their properties within Lal Dora boundaries will also be allowed to sell them, benefiting another 685,000 properties.

Sudha further disclosed that 741 unapproved colonies spanning all urban areas in Haryana have been regularized, entitling owners to sell all 171,368 properties within these colonies. Efforts are underway to complete the regularization of the remaining 433 colonies by June 30.
