An FIR has been lodged against Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy and former JDS MLC Ramesh Gowda in connection with threats made to businessman Vijay Tata. According to police sources, while Vijay Tata has appeared at the Amrithalli police station to provide a statement, he has not submitted any preliminary documentation to support his claims. As a result, Kumaraswamy is not currently under investigation.

The police have indicated that further investigation will be challenging without this primary documentation. They have advised Vijay Tata to provide necessary evidence to facilitate the inquiry.

In his complaint, Vijay Tata alleged that he faced demands and threats amounting to ₹50 crore from Kumaraswamy and Gowda. The complaint also mentions that Ramesh Gowda demanded ₹5 crore and made threats, including a reference to WhatsApp communications. However, Tata did not furnish documentation regarding these messages or any relevant phone calls when he reported to the police.

Additionally, the complaint touches on alleged expenses in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, claiming that substantial funds were spent to promote Nikhil Kumaraswamy on social media. Without documentation to support these claims, the investigation has been slow.

The police stated that once preliminary documents are provided, they can proceed with the investigation, which may include notices for Kumaraswamy and Ramesh Gowda to attend hearings. Currently, the process is delayed due to the lack of evidence from the complainant.
