Mass Screening Programme Covering Entire State Soon: Dinesh Gundu Rao

A mass screening program will be initiated by the government to assess the health status of the entire population of Karnataka, as announced by Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao. The program will commence on a pilot basis in eight districts, with every household in the district being covered. The primary focus will be on screening for blood pressure, blood sugar, cervical cancer, breast cancer, and other diseases.

The minister revealed plans to ensure the regular delivery of necessary medications to individuals diagnosed with high blood pressure and blood sugar. Emphasizing the importance of early disease detection, he underscored the ease of treatment when diseases are identified at an early stage. He lamented the tendency of individuals to seek medical attention only at advanced stages of illness, when treatment options are limited.

The minister also acknowledged the significant role of the private sector in advancing healthcare, noting their contribution in technology, research, and medical education. He advocated for collaboration between the public and private sectors to improve healthcare delivery.Speaker UT Khader expressed intentions to enhance medical tourism in the district, aiming to attract visitors from neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. He disclosed plans to allocate funds for further development of infrastructure, including roads leading to medical institutions in the region.
