Skating fever hits, children thrill at district-level roller skating event

The Bangalore Rural Roller Skating Association recently held its third district-level roller skating selection for the upcoming state competition, drawing a wave of excitement among local youth. The event, held at the sports ground near Venkata Layout in Devanahalli, witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of young skaters eager to showcase their skills.

Prakash, General Secretary of the Association, expressed his joy at the growing interest in skating among children, attributing the district’s increasing medal tally to this rising passion. The event was co-organized by district president Ramesh E, alongside other key figures from the skating community.

The competition was inaugurated by Lakshminarayan IAS, President of the Karnataka State Roller Skating Association, and Seetharam, the General Secretary. Both officials applauded the growing participation in skating, praising the dedication of young athletes.

Dr. Mamatha, a parent and guest speaker, stressed the importance of sports like skating for children’s physical and mental development. She encouraged parents to support their children’s involvement in such activities, which complement academic achievements and foster holistic growth.

Association members, parents, and trainers, including Mohan, Varun, and Veerabhadra Hari, were present to cheer on the participants. The event underscored the association’s commitment to providing quality training and nurturing future champions in the sport. The event not only served as a selection process for the state competition but also as a celebration of the sport’s growing popularity in the region, with more children taking up skating as a regular activity.
