Fire Engulfs Kallapu Global Market, Loss Estimated In Crores

 A fire tore through the Global Market near Kallapu, falling under the jurisdiction of the Ullal police station, engulfing five large and 20 small shops. The estimated loss from the blaze is believed to be in crores of rupees.

The fire caused significant damage to several prominent shops, including SN Fruits owned by Naveed, with losses amounting to Rs one crore, KFK owned by Suhail, with losses of Rs 40 lakh,  KK Fruits owned by Latif, with losses of Rs 70 lakh, Indian owned by Latif, with losses of Rs 60 lakh, BSR owned by Salam, with losses estimated at Rs 15-20 lakh, PKS owned by Zulfikar, with losses also estimated at Rs 15-20 lakh and KGN Fruits owned by Nasir, with losses estimated at Rs 15-20 lakh. Additionally, 20 small shops, including Ganesh Market, Imtiyaz and Ameer, were completely destroyed in the inferno.

The owner of SN Fruits had recently procured fruits worth Rs 40 lakh on Sunday evening, all of which were lost in the fire. Moreover, all the big shops had freezers, all of which were destroyed in the blaze. The fire was first noticed around 2.30 am on Monday within the locked shops, quickly spreading to the adjacent 25 shops. Prompt action by the fire service personnel from Mangaluru prevented the fire from spreading to the other 60 shops in the vicinity.
