BJP candidate Dr Dhananjay Sarji has achieved a decisive victory in the South-Western Graduates’ constituency MLC polls, securing a total of 37,627 votes. He won by a substantial margin of 6,935 votes over his closest competitor.
Rebel BJP candidate Raghupati Bhat finished in third place with 7,039 votes. The Congress candidate, Ayanur Manjunath, received 13,516 votes. With the quota set at 30,692 votes plus one, Dr Dhananjay Sarji exceeded the required quota by 6,935 votes.
Dr Dhananjay Sarji clinched victory in the first-preference vote count itself, delivering a significant setback to the Congress party.
