The delegation led by State President of Karnataka State Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ), Shivananda Tagaduru, met Suralkar Vikas Kishore, Commissioner of Information Department and discussed the problems and demands of journalists.

Retired senior journalists are not getting monthly pension from the government for at least 2-3 months. Due to this, many people are struggling without money to buy medicines to maintain their lives. Therefore, the Commissioner was convinced of the real problem, it should be rectified immediately and the monthly payment should be properly credited to their account. The Commissioner promised to take immediate action in this regard and take appropriate action to ensure that pension is paid every month.

The Chief Minister has announced in the budget to give free bus pass to rural journalists on the insistence of KUWJ and immediate steps should be taken to implement it. Even though the free bus pass of the transport organization for traveling journalists with media accreditation card has expired, there is still a problem of non-renewal of the bus pass. Therefore, the state president of the association insisted that this problem should be solved on priority. A letter has already been written to KSRTC regarding delay in bus pass and renewal of pass. Commissioner said that he will focus on this again.
