Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced the launch of 14 development projects in the district today during a press conference at the district Panchayat mini auditorium. He inaugurated upgraded Primary Health Centre buildings in Nandi and Nayanahalli villages.
The minister disclosed that Rs 2.5 crore has been allocated for constructing a residential facility in Shidlaghatta, while Rs 1.8 crore has been approved for enhancing the public hospital in Bagepalli. He also laid the foundation stone for a new Primary Health Centre in both Shidlaghatta and Bagepalli. Additionally, a newly established mental health centre in Murugamalla, Chintamani taluk, was inaugurated.
Under the ‘Hrudaya Jyothi’ scheme, launched in memory of actor Puneeth Rajkumar, 75 lives have been saved, with 1,200 patients treated thus far. The state is effectively managing dengue through the cooperation of urban and rural local bodies, with preventive measures planned for the next year.
The district administration has requested 28 new sub-centres, with land available for 12. Each sub-centre is estimated to cost Rs 65 lakh, with a budget of Rs 3.5 crore allocated for the construction. Additionally, there are proposals to upgrade four Primary Health Centres to Community Health Centres.
Minister Rao announced that day-care chemotherapy centers would soon be established in all district hospitals. Legal amendments are being proposed to impose stringent penalties for assaults on doctors, including a seven-year prison sentence and fines. Several officials, including Minister for Higher Education Dr. M.C. Sudhakar, were present at the event.
