BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath’s name and photo have been unlawfully exploited on WhatsApp, with calls and messages reaching officials and the public. Taking note of this, the BBMP’s IT department has lodged a complaint with Cybercrime.
Unauthorized usage of the Chief Commissioner’s name, designation, and portrait is observed on WhatsApp, originating from an unknown mobile number 9428053334. This number has no affiliation with BBMP. Misleading information is being disseminated to officials with malicious intent, stated Prabhakar, Deputy Chief Information Officer of BBMP’s IT Department, in the complaint filed with Cybercrime.
The Chief Commissioner has urged both BBMP officials and citizens to refrain from responding to messages originating from the number 9428053334. A notification has been issued by BBMP, urging individuals who encounter such messages or harbor suspicions to promptly report the matter to the Chief Commissioner’s office or lodge a complaint with Cybercrime.
