DCM Issues Stern Warning To Officials Over Potable Water Quality

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has issued a stern warning to officials, cautioning them of strict repercussions if the quality of potable water in Bengaluru is compromised.

In a letter addressed to the BBMP Commissioner, Bengaluru Zilla Panchayat CEO, and BWSSB Chairman, Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar mentioned the imperative of providing quality potable water to the residents of Bengaluru. He unequivocally stated that officials would be held accountable for any lapses leading to water-borne diseases among the populace.

Citing reports of water-borne illnesses stemming from water contamination across the state, Shivakumar highlighted the gravity of the situation, which was deliberated upon during a conference call between the Chief Minister and District Collectors. Against this backdrop, he underscored the urgency for officials to meticulously inspect all drinking water units and ensure their hygienic operation. Additionally, Shivakumar mandated the conduct of frequent tests to promptly detect and address any instances of water contamination.
