A group of academics supportive of the TMC has called upon President Droupadi Murmu to launch an inquiry into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks regarding the hoarding of black money by large corporate entities. The Educationists’ Forum, comprising former vice-chancellors of state universities and senior professors, highlighted Modi’s comments made during a public gathering in Karimnagar, Telangana, where he alleged the involvement of two major corporate houses in the country in hoarding, utilizing, and distributing black money.

Modi’s accusation on May 8th marked the first time he linked the Congress party with Ambani and Adani, suggesting they might have funneled bundles of black money to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, eliciting his criticism against them.

The Forum expressed deep concern over the Prime Minister’s admission of corruption and the use of black money, which they believe has tarnished India’s reputation as a constitutional democracy governed by the rule of law.

Additionally, the Forum raised questions about recent advice from Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, regarding stock market investments before Lok Sabha election results. They speculated whether this advice aimed to sway political and electoral processes through financial incentives and instilling fear among investors.

The Forum urged President Murmu to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the implications and consequences of such statements. The statement was endorsed by Prof Omprakash Mishra, former state minister Purnendu Basu, and corporate governance researcher Prof Akhil Swami.
