Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited rain-affected areas, including Gaali Anjaneya Swami Temple in the Vijayanagar Vidhana Sabha Constituency during his city rounds on Wednesday.
The main concern highlighted during the visit was the recurring flooding in the rajakaluve near Gaali Anjaneya temple, particularly during the rainy season. BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath briefed the CM on the situation, proposing a solution involving the construction of another canal parallel to the existing one. Estimated at Rs 11.5 crore, the project aims to mitigate flood risks effectively.
CM directed immediate action on the proposed project, highlightingthe urgency to commence work promptly to prevent further inundation. Additionally, he instructed officials to implement measures to prevent public dumping of garbage into the storm water drain, which exacerbates flooding issues.
Siddaramaiah set a strict time limit for resolving the problem, urging authorities to complete the project within the ongoing rainy season. Furthermore, issuing a stern warning, hehighlightedthe necessity for a permanent solution this year. The Chief Engineer was cautioned of potential suspension if the issue persisted unresolved, underscoring the seriousness of the matter and the government’s commitment to addressing public concerns effectively.
