As pre-monsoon rains continue to lash Karnataka, concerns arise over potential flooding in low-lying areas of Bengaluru. The incessant rainfall threatens to inundate streets and homes, with reports of sewage water seeping into roads and residences.

Against this backdrop, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar embarked on a tour of Bengaluru on Wednesday, to assess the situation and evaluate the measures undertaken by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Officials provided updates on the condition of drains across various locations.

Addressing media representatives during the tour, DK Shivakumar expressed optimism about the rainfall, stating, “Let it rain. The more rain, the better for us. He mentioned the importance of adequate rainfall not only for Bengaluru but also for ensuring water flow to Tamil Nadu.

CM Siddaramaiah and I are conducting a comprehensive inspection of the city to apprise officials of the observed rain damage and precautionary measures, Shivakumar stated. He elaborated that specific areas have been targeted for scrutiny based on reported issues, with the aim of expediting administrative response.

Additionally, discussions on electoral strategies are slated for the evening dinner gathering, in light of upcoming local body elections. Shivakumar highlighted the importance of reflecting on past experiences, particularly during the Lok Sabha elections, to inform future preparations.
