Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having a “secret bond” that is blocking the development of the state.
Speaking at an election rally in support of Congress candidate V Naveen Yadav for the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll, Reddy alleged that BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy were spreading false claims and creating hurdles for Telangana’s progress.
He said that BJP leaders were stalling key projects, including the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion and the Musi River rejuvenation plan. “The BJP’s win in eight Lok Sabha seats last year shows their hidden ties with the BRS. What have the Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar done for Telangana? Did they bring any funds from Delhi?” he asked.
Reddy said the Congress government had already launched development projects worth ₹4,000 crore in Secunderabad Cantonment after winning the recent bypoll there. He urged Jubilee Hills voters to choose development over sentiment and elect Naveen Yadav.
The Chief Minister also criticised BRS working president K T Rama Rao, saying he ignored Jubilee Hills during his decade-long tenure as Municipal Administration Minister. He further questioned the BJP’s objection to the appointment of former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin as a minister, asking why it caused discomfort to them.
Reddy promised to take responsibility for developing Jubilee Hills with support from Azharuddin and Naveen Yadav after the bypoll.
The by-election for the Jubilee Hills Assembly seat will be held on November 11, with counting on November 14. It was necessitated by the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June.
