Steps have been taken by Congress to financially empower women, providing Rs 2,000 per month to house owners when the party assumed power at the center, totaling Rs 1 lakh annually. Venkataramane Gowda (Star Chandru), Congress candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, announced the direct deposit of funds into the accounts of recipients, bolstering household stability.
During a roadshow across Malavalli Assembly Constituency, he campaigned for votes, highlighting the achievements of the Congress government and its newly introduced welfare initiatives.
Gowda expressed confidence in Congress’s future governance, asserting that the country would progress on a new path under its leadership. He emphasized the transformative impact of women’s economic empowerment on national progress, citing the proverb that empowering a woman economically is akin to opening a school.
He elaborated on the guarantee schemes aimed at enhancing the spending power of rural women, facilitating savings and securing their future. So far, Rs 512 crore has been directly deposited into the accounts of 4.49 lakh house owners in the district, providing them with a monthly stipend of Rs 2,000 each.
Gowda stressed the responsibility of house owners in strengthening the Congress Party, acknowledging its significant contributions to women’s welfare.
