Controversy Erupts At Doddakallasandra Namma Metro Station

Must read

Doddakallasandra Namma Metro Station has sparked controversy after a staff member allegedly prevented a passenger, reportedly due to a missing shirt button, from boarding the metro train.

This incident, reminiscent of a recent controversy involving a farmer being denied entry to the metro due to wearing dirty clothes, has raised questions about the accessibility of the metro system.

According to reports, a young man at Doddakallasandra station was halted by staff while waiting to board the metro. A fellow passenger captured the scene on video and shared it on social media, leading to widespread criticism of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

Critics argue that such incidents suggest a bias favoring affluent passengers, while discriminating against individuals such as farmers and workers. In response, a BMRCL spokesperson refuted allegations of discrimination, asserting that the metro welcomes people from all backgrounds.

The spokesperson clarified that the staff’s action was driven by concerns about the individual’s potential intoxication and the possibility of disturbing other passengers. This incident mirrors a previous controversy at Rajajinagar Metro Station, where a farmer was barred from entering the metro due to wearing worn-out attire.

Public outcry over the Rajajinagar incident had prompted the BMRCL to dismiss the security supervisor involved, acknowledging fault in their conduct. The recurrence of such incidents raises broader questions about inclusivity and fairness within the metro system, prompting calls for stricter oversight and sensitivity training among metro staff.
