Must read

As Ugadi, approaches, and with the Ramzan festival following closely thereafter, meat consumption is expected to rise in Bengaluru. Traditionally, Ugadi marks a significant occasion for feasting, and this year’s celebration falls on Tuesday, ensuring uninterrupted access to meat for enthusiasts.

Similarly, the upcoming Ramzan festival, observed by the Muslim community, coincides with the New Year, further fueling the demand for non-vegetarian fare. As a result, meat vendors anticipate a surge in customers flocking to their shops.

Currently, goat meat are priced at Rs 600 per kg, but with the heightened demand during the festivals, prices are expected to soar to Rs 800-850 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of chicken meat remains steady at Rs 180-200 per kg.

Manikyam, the owner of Papanna Mutton Stall on Mysuru Road, predicts a substantial increase in sales, estimating around 3,000 kg of meat to be sold in a single day, particularly with the festive demand. He reassures customers that despite the prevailing drought conditions, there is an ample supply of sheep, ensuring a steady availability of meat in the market.
