Contrary to rumors of cholera, the Backward Classes Welfare Department hostel at Bangalore Medical College Research Institute (BMCRI) is grappling with a health emergency. Dr. Ramesh Krishna K, Director of BMCRI, addressed concerns, shedding light on the situation.
Forty-seven female students from the BMCRI hostel in Bangalore were admitted to Victoria Hospital for treatment. Among them, 28 are undergoing treatment at the True Care Center, while 13 are receiving care in the H Block ward. Additionally, three students are undergoing intensive care examinations.
The students are experiencing symptoms of vomiting and dysentery, indicative of acute gastroenteritis. Preliminary examinations confirm the diagnosis, although further medical evaluations are pending. Despite the severity of their condition, all 47 students are reported to be in stable condition.
Ramesh Krishna K emphasized the need for prompt medical attention and reassured the public of the students’ well-being. The hostel authorities and medical personnel are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the health and safety of all residents.
This incident underscores the importance of timely medical intervention and effective management of health crises within educational institutions. Further updates on the students’ conditions are awaited pending the completion of medical examinations.
