Prakash Javadekar, a senior BJP figure, has criticized Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, accusing him of looking at society solely through the lens of caste, creed, and religion. This criticism comes as the BJP escalates its criticism against Vijayan following his remarks on the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’

Vijayan, speaking at a rally organized by the CPI(M) in Malappuram, highlighted that the slogans ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Hind’ were originally raised by Muslims. He questioned whether the Sangh Parivar would be willing to give up these slogans in light of this fact.

Responding to Vijayan’s remarks, Javadekar, also serving as the party’s Kerala in-charge, emphasized that the BJP does not view society through the prism of caste, creed, or religion. He affirmed the party’s commitment to chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and challenged Vijayan to do the same.

Vijayan, in his address, underscored the significant contributions of Muslim rulers, cultural figures, and officials to India’s history and independence movement. He cited historical examples, mentioning Azimullah Khan as the creator of the ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogan and Abid Hasan as the first to use ‘Jai Hind.’
