BBMP Forest Department Fails To Address Fallen Trees Complaint, Residents Disappointed

Must read

Residents of Hazarath Sir Khazi Mohammed Abdul Khuddus Saheb Burial Ground on Nandi Durga Road have expressed frustration as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Forest Department has yet to address the issue of fallen trees lingering for the past five months.

Following complaints lodged by the burial ground authorities after trees fell during the previous monsoon season, the BBMP Forest Department assigned a contractor to clear the fallen trees. However, despite assurances from the BBMP Range Forest Officer to resolve the matter, no action has been taken.

Despite repeated requests and more than 10 days passing, BBMP Forest Department officials have not visited the burial ground. In the interim, some individuals took matters into their own hands, setting fire to the tree logs. This action not only polluted the environment but also created a disturbance in the area.

Expressing disappointment, few residents said that, we are quite disappointed with the apathy of the BBMP Forest Department. One of the contractors contacted us over the phone and He collected details and assured the removal of the tree logs. Now, we are shocked to see half-burnt tree logs at the burial ground.

In response to the situation, a BBMP Forest Department contractor has provided reassurance that the remaining tree logs will be cleared within a few days. He said that, we have visited the burial ground recently and helped the people cut the fallen trees into pieces. Will remove the remaining tree logs, the contractor affirmed.
