In the past week, more than 1,500 complaints concerning violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) have been lodged across Rajasthan via the Election Commission’s cVigil app, stated a senior official on Sunday.

Since the MCC’s enforcement on March 16, an average of over 200 complaints daily have been filed on the cVIGIL (Citizen Vigilance) app, as informed by Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta. Among these, a total of 1,515 complaints were recorded within the last seven days. Gupta noted that 546 complaints were confirmed by returning officers and addressed within the mandated time frame of 100 minutes, while six complaints await resolution, and 789 complaints were dismissed.

Tonk district accounted for the highest number of MCC violation complaints, totaling 241. Of these, 218 complaints were substantiated and promptly addressed within the set timeframe. Gupta highlighted the efficiency in resolving complaints, citing that in Tonk district, the average resolution time was 7 minutes and 12 seconds. Additionally, he mentioned that static surveillance teams stationed across all constituencies facilitate swift action upon receiving complaints through the app, especially regarding issues like posters and banners. The cVigil app remains accessible for reporting MCC breaches, as Rajasthan gears up for polling across 25 Lok Sabha seats, scheduled in two phases on April 19 and April 26.
