On the momentous occasion of International Women’s Day, the South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division proudly presented an event where the Rajya Rani Express was skilfully operated by an all-women crew between Mysuru to Bengaluru. The initiative, held on Friday, served as a tribute to women’s empowerment and gender equality in the Indian Railways. This year’s theme, Invest in Women Accelerate Progress, echoed throughout the event, guided by the visionary leadership of Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager. The focus was on addressing economic empowerment and promoting inclusivity to drive tangible progress for women in the workforce. The overarching campaign theme, Inspire Inclusion, encapsulated the essence of the event, emphasizing the pivotal role of women in shaping the future of The Indian Railways. The all-women crew, comprising G Shreesha, Lady Loco Pilot, G Sona, Assistant Loco Pilot, Priyadarshini, Train Manager, Lady Ticket Examiners and RPF Escort, flawlessly managed the Rajya Rani Express, showcasing their competence and dedication. Shilpi Agarwal, along with members of the South Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, distributed rose buds and toffees to passengers at the bustling Railway Station, symbolising a gesture of appreciation and solidarity. While speaking on the occasion Shilpi Agarwal underscored the importance of recognising and supporting women in the Indian Railways to drive positive change and foster a more inclusive and equitable working and for championing the cause of women’s empowerment in the railways. E Vijaya and Shri Vinayak Naik, Additional Divisional Railway Managers , Ankita Verma, Senior Divisional Operations Manager, J Lohiteshwara, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and Senior PRO, Vishnu Gowda, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Members of South Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation and other Senior Officers and staff were present during the flagging of the all women crew Rajya Rani Express.
