The 285th ‘Jayantyutsavam’ of Saint Sewalal at Suragondanakoppa Bhaigad in the taluk concluded on Thursday with the dedication of ritual of fire offering. On Thursday morning, Mariamma and Sewalal festival idols were brought to the Homakunda premises in a decorated palanquin. The havan kund decorated with different colored rangoli, flowers, nine different types of wooden checks, sandalwood check, ghee-filled ‘irumudi’ nuts were arranged with ritualistic methods, the kund was lit with camphor, and wheat porridge and ghee were offered as offerings.
The religious rites of havan kund were performed under the leadership of Babusingh Maharaja, the successor of Ram Rao Maharaja of Pauragad, Maharashtra, Archaka Sevyanayaka of Sewalal Temple, Archaka Manjunathanayaka of Mariamma Temple and various sadhu saints. In mass prayer, he prayed for ‘good for all living beings, rain, crops and people live in peace and harmony’.
Sant Sewalal Janmasthan Maha Math Committee President and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Rudrappa Manappa Lamani, General Secretary N Arunakumar, Principal Dharmadarsi B Heeranayka and Bhojayanaike, Maha Math Management Committee President Hanumanthanayaka, Karnataka Tanda Development Corporation Managing Director L Shivashankaranayaka, Raghavendranayaka, Chandrasena Chavan, SN Gopalanayka, Savalanga Bhojayanayka, former Minister PT Parameshwaranayaka, Bhupalanayka, Srinivasanayaka, Renunayka, Ramanayaka, Mahamath Committee Director, Nyamati Tahsildar HB Govindappa, Police Inspector NS Ravi, Police Sub-Inspector BL Jayappanayaka and heads of various departments participated in the ritual.
