A Magnificent Floral Experience: Lalbagh Introduces A 34-Foot Wide ‘Anubhav Mantapa’ For Republic Day

In a remarkable first, Lalbagh, Bangalore’s botanical haven, is set to unveil a spectacular ‘Anubhav Mantapa’—a 34 feet wide and 30 feet tall flower structure within the glasshouse. This extraordinary floral creation will serve as a focal point during the 215th Fruit Flower Show, themed around Vishwaguru Basavanna and Vachana Sahitya, scheduled to run from January 18 to 28 in celebration of Republic Day. Organized by the Department of Horticulture, this year’s exhibition boasts a total of 32 lakh flowers, with 5 lakh dedicated to the stunning ‘Experience Pavilion.’ Dr. M. Jagdish, Joint Director of the State Horticulture Department, emphasized the uniqueness of the ‘Anubhav Mantapa,’ highlighting its prominence in the overall showcase. Director of Horticulture Department, D.S. Ramesh, shared details of the elaborate floral arrangements, revealing that 68 types of flowers contribute to the grandeur of ‘Anubhav Mantapa’ and ‘Eikya Mantapa.’ The inauguration ceremony on January 18, at 6 pm, will witness Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Sivakumar, Horticulture Department Minister S.S. Mallikarjuna, and other dignitaries. A budget of Rs 2.85 crore has been allocated for the comprehensive fruit and flower display, anticipating an impressive turnout of 10-12 lakh visitors. Alongside the captivating ‘Anubhav Mantapa,’ Lalbagh will showcase floral arrangements depicting the statues of eminent figures like Akkamahadevi, Ambigar Choudaiah, Hadapada Appanna, Kumbara Gundanna, Akkanalagambike, Madiwala Machideva, Samagara Haralaiah, Bachikayaka Basavanna, and Sarane Satyakka. Additionally, a special exhibition inside the glasshouse will highlight ancient Olegary manuscripts, emphasizing their significance and preservation methods. The organizers envision a truly enchanting experience for all attendees.
