Madrid
Atletico Madrid’s Argentinian striker, Angel Correa, and his family experienced a harrowing incident as four masked gunmen robbed them at gunpoint in their home on Saturday night, as reported by Spain’s ‘Cadena Cope’ radio station. The armed intruders entered the house around 9 p.m., threatening Correa and his family and demanding all available jewelry and cash before making their escape. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the player promptly informed the police after the assailants left. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. Correa had recently returned to Spain from Saudi Arabia after participating in Wednesday’s Spanish Super Cup semifinal, where Atletico Madrid suffered a 4-3 defeat to Real Madrid. This unfortunate incident adds to a concerning trend, as Correa joins a list of high-profile footballers in Spain, including Sergio Ramos, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Casemiro, Lucas Vazquez, and Isco, who have been victims of robberies in recent years.
