Distribution of Rs 475 Crore Crop Insurance, Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy

Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy said that Rs 475 crore crop insurance compensation has already been provided to 7 lakh farmers in the state this year.

He was speaking at the Commemoration Ceremony of Dr Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Adi Chunchanagiri, Krishi Mela and Raitha Sangama programmes.

Only about 20 lakh farmers in the state have got crop insurance. He said that due to increased drought situation this year, another Rs 1,000 crore insurance money will be directly transferred to the farmers.

The Minister said that the farmers should be strong only then the complete prosperity of the country can be achieved.

President of Adi Chunchanagiri,  Dr Nirmalanandanath Swamiji gave his blessings and said that the farmers should not only become hard workers but also experts. At the present situation, secondary agriculture is more profitable and farmers should also pay attention to value addition of their products.

Secretary of Adi Chunchanagiri Educational Institution Trust Sri Prasannanatha Swamiji gave the introductory speech.

Commissioner of Agriculture YS Patil spoke and praised the social, educational, spiritual and agricultural concern, thought and service of Sri Nirmalanandanath Swamiji of Adi Chunchanagiri Mutt that the whole world can appreciate.

Director of Agriculture, Dr GT Putra, District Superintendent of Police Yatish, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat Tanveer Asif, Agriculture University Vice Chancellor Dr SV Suresh,  Joint Director of Agriculture Ashoka Kumar and others were present.
