MP Kota Srinivas Poojary  stated that the allegations of corruption against the ruling Congress party in Karnataka are likely to influence the result of the bypoll to the Karnataka legislative council from the Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities constituency.
He told media persons that the Congress is in a state of anxiety in the backdrop of a series of allegations, and it will impact their prospects in the by-poll.

Demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over the FIR pertaining to MUDA scam, Poojary said the Chief Minister should remember his own demand for BS Yediyurappa’s resignation over a shady land deal, when the latter was the Chief Minister.
Yediyurappa’s son had returned the land after the allegations of misappropriation surfaced. Siddaramaiah, who was the opposition leader, had demanded Yediyurappa’s resignation, stating that the returning of land is nothing but an acceptance of guilt. If Siddaramaiah thinks that the same principle of justice applies to him too, then he should resign now, he said. On similar allegations against BJP leader R Ashoka, the MP said let the government conduct a probe into it.

The BJP has always worked to strengthen the panchayat bodies. It was during the tenure of Yediyurappa as Chief Minister in the year 2008 that gram panchayat members started receiving a Rs 2,000 monthly honorarium. The party also ensured that the gram panchayats got funds under the 14th and 15th finance commission. The BJP was responsible for the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission project, which provides potable drinking water connections to rural households in the state at a cost of Rs 72,000 crore, the MP said.
