Ahead of the by-election to the Legislative Council from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Local Authorities’ Constituency, BJP held a preparatory meeting under the leadership of MPs Kota Shrinivas Poojary, Capt Brijesh Chowta, and party District President Sathish Kumpala.
Senior BJP leaders of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts exuded confidence in comfortably winning the seat, for which a by-election was necessitated after Kota Srinivas Poojary became the MP of the Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency. MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said by giving an opportunity to an ordinary worker to contest the election, BJP has once again proved to be a party with a difference. He mentioned that it was BJP candidate Kishore Kumar Puttur, who, as BJP district youth wing president, inspired him to join the party after his stint in the Army. Though we have no doubt about Kishore’s victory, party workers should work as a team, he said.
Thanking the party leadership for giving him an opportunity to contest the byelection, Kishore said only BJP recognises efficient leaders without considering caste and money power. I have been given a huge responsibility through this opportunity. I will seek the suggestions of senior party leaders to fulfil my responsibilities efficiently, he said.
BJP Dakshina Kannada District President Satish Kumpala said the party has given an opportunity to an ordinary worker, who has also worked for the Hindutva cause and the Sangh Parivar. BJP, with its strong presence, will surely win this by-election, he said.
