Hockey India has revealed the 34-member core probable group for the Senior Women’s National Coaching Camp set to commence on December 27 at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru. This camp holds significant importance as the Indian team gears up for the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Ranchi 2024 and the FIH Hockey5s Women’s World Cup 2024. Following their participation in the 5 Nations Tournament Valencia 2023 in Spain, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team will regroup to intensify preparations for the upcoming challenges. The FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Ranchi 2024, scheduled from January 13 to 19, will see India in Pool B alongside New Zealand, Italy, and the United States. Subsequently, the team will participate in the FIH Hockey5s Women’s World Cup 2024 in Muscat, Oman, from January 24 to 27. The 34-member core probable group comprises a mix of experienced players and emerging talent across various positions. The goalkeeping unit includes Savita, Rajani Etimarpu, Bichu Devi Kharibam, and Bansari Solanki. Defenders in the group are Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjit Kaur, Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Ishika Chaudhary, Akshata Abaso Dhekale, Jyoti Chhatri, and Mahima Chaudhary. The midfield section features Nisha, Salima Tete, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Jyoti, Navjot Kaur, Monika, Mariana Kujur, Sonika, Neha, Baljeet Kaur, Reena Khokhar, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, and Ajmina Kujur. The forwards’ lineup includes Lalremsiami, Navneet Kaur, Vandana Katariya, Sharmila Devi, Deepika, Sangita Kumari, Mumtaz Khan, Sunelita Toppo, and Beauty Dungdung. The camp comes on the heels of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team’s success in the Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023, where they emerged as champions. Janneke Schopman, the Chief Coach, emphasized the camp’s importance in fine-tuning aspects identified during the 5 Nations Tournament and preparing the team for the challenging qualifiers ahead.
