­­MLIRC Holds Event To Commemorate Indian Military’s Victory In 1971 War

The Southern Star Vijay Run, an event to commemorate Vijay Diwas, a day that was etched in the annals of the Indian military history for our triumph in the 1971 war was organised at  Military Station under the aegis of The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC).
The event was flagged off by Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, the Station Commander of the Military Station.

A total of 1,926 marathon runners including 1,356 service personnel, 20 veterans, 200 civilians and 350 children participated in this mega event.
The serving personnel in the run reflected the commitment and dedication of the Armed Forces and also showcased their physical prowess and resilience. Veterans, the stalwarts who have valiantly served the country, inspired the younger generation to understand the sacrifices made by our heroes for the nation’s sovereignty.The civilians joining the run contributed towards a broader narrative of National Solidarity and bridged the gap between the Armed Forces and the general populaceAddressing the event, Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee said, Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year to commemorate India’s victory in the 1971 war. It is a day to remember the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers. It is a day that proclaims the integrity of the country and inspires the youth. The victory run organised in various categories will inspire the youth with attractive prizes and certificates for the winners in various categories.
As the participants took part in the run, the collective remembrance became a solemn acknowledgement of the debt owed to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. The event showcased the strong bond between the armed forces and the civilians, thus heralding the nation’s prosperity.
