Two Indian-origin hotel owners, Dakshaben Patel and Harshil Patel, have been arrested in the US state of Tennessee for allegedly providing false information to the police regarding the whereabouts of fugitives they were hiding inside their hotel building. The charges, filed on Wednesday, accuse both Dakshaben and Harshil Patel of making false reports to police officers during an investigation on July 18. The Monteagle Police Department revealed that officers had been conducting surveillance on the hotel due to high drug transition in the area. According to the police, officers observed two individuals on the balcony, later identified as having felony warrants out of Franklin County. Upon chasing the suspects on foot, the police quickly apprehended them. Subsequent investigation revealed that the hotel had a hideout room on the corner of the building, where the fugitives had been residing. The police department stated, Both Patel subjects had been advised multiple times about the wanted suspects and had lied to officers about their residence at the hotel. The charges against Dakshaben Patel and Harshil Patel include felony charges for providing false information to law enforcement officers.
