Iranian hackers reportedly shared stolen information from former President Donald Trump’s campaign with individuals connected to President Joe Biden’s campaign during the summer. Federal law enforcement officials stated that in late June and early July, the hackers sent unsolicited emails containing excerpts from the stolen materials to Biden campaign associates.

The Director of National Intelligence, the FBI, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency released a joint statement indicating that there is no evidence that Biden’s team responded to these emails. The hackers’ efforts to distribute this information to US media have continued.

This incident is part of a broader Iranian government campaign aimed at creating discord and undermining confidence in the US electoral process. Previous attempts included an unsuccessful hack of the Biden-Harris campaign. The hackers are believed to be linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Reports have indicated that these hackers breached the email account of Roger Stone, a long-time ally of Trump, as part of their strategy to access campaign networks. The US elections are scheduled for November 5, with Trump as the Republican nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee following Biden’s withdrawal from the race.
