Replying on behalf of the Home Minister, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda explained that inter-district transfer of Police personnel has been provided in cases of husband and wife.

The Karnataka government is positively considering the request to increase the transfer period of Police Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors from one year to two years. Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, on behalf of the Home Minister, told the Assembly on behalf of the Home Minister on the issue raised during zero hour on Thursday that inter-district transfer has been provided in cases of husband and wife of police personnel.

MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal said that a one-year service opportunity has been given to the Police officer and staff at the place where they serve. This one year is not enough for the staff in detecting crime cases and identifying and prosecuting the culprits. They should be exempted from transfer for at least two years to facilitate their effective duty. He demanded that the Police department rules be amended in this regard.
