For the past 15 days, the guest lecturers of the government degree colleges across the state have been protesting demanding the fulfillment of their demands, and the government has noticed that the students are suffering due to this. Higher Education Minister Dr. MC Sudhakar assured that action will be taken in this regard soon.
Opposition member Chidananda brought the issue of guest lecturers and the issue of students to the notice of the Minister during the zero hour session of Legislative Council on Wednesday.
The pattern of retaining guest lecturers in different states should be followed. Every time Umadevi’s case is brought forward in this matter, if the injustice to the guest lecturers is to stop, then there should be an amendment in the rules of the faculty and appointment. Chidananda suggested that salary revision should be done as per UGC schedule and security of service should be provided to guest lecturers.
The problem of guest lecturers did not arise when our government came into existence. A demand that has been alive for nearly 20 years. Talking to guest lecturers who are already protesting, efforts to persuade them to give up the struggle have failed. We talked to the Chief Minister about this and found a solution, it needs some time. The Minister said in the House that he will solve this problem soon.
