Under Public Works Department Communications and Buildings Zones, 187 black spots on state highways and district main roads have been developed by PRAMC at an estimated cost of Rs.23,204.42 lakhs to make them accident free. Out of these 182 black spots development works have been completed and remaining 5 works are in progress. Revenue Minister Krishna Bhairegowda said that so far Rs.13,841.49 lakhs have been spent on the development of black areas.
Answering to a question of dot identification raised by member KA Thippeswamy in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, Krishna Byregowda answered on behalf of the Minister of Public Works.
A total of 205 black spots developed so far by PRAMC and departments under Public Works Department Communications and Buildings sectors have been entrusted to various technical colleges to carry out scientifically the post implementation study of 99 black spots developed so far for 3 years annual study. The reports have been received and according to the said study report, the number of accidents will be seen to be significantly reduced in the developed black spots.
