Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Ram Dutt Joshi Government Combined Hospital in Ramnagar on Monday to meet the victims of a bus accident in Almora district. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of over 35 people, with many others injured after a bus carrying around 50 passengers fell into a deep gorge.
During his visit, CM Dhami checked on the health of the injured and was accompanied by BJP MP Anil Baluni. He stated that strict action would be taken against those responsible and ordered a magisterial inquiry into the accident, canceling his other scheduled programs.
Dhami also mentioned that the severely injured individuals were airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh and Sushila Tiwari Hospital for better treatment. He expressed his concern for the victims and promised to monitor the relief efforts closely. Uttarakhand’s Health Minister, Dhan Singh Rawat, assured that measures would be implemented to prevent similar accidents in the future. The government announced compensation of Rs 1 lakh for the injured and Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences and announced an additional Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives.
