A day after a grenade attack in Srinagar’s weekly market, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Farooq Abdullah visited Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital on Monday to see the injured civilians. He checked on their health and urged the hospital staff to provide all necessary medical care for a quick recovery. Abdullah, a former Chief Minister, was accompanied by retired Judge and JKNC MLA Hasnain Masoodi.

On Sunday, J&K Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Surender Kumar Chaudhary also visited the SMHS Hospital to meet the victims. He spoke with the injured and their families. Earlier, Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohidin visited the hospital as well. He reported that two patients would require surgery and assured that the remaining injured would be treated and released soon.

The grenade attack at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) and weekly market injured twelve people, including one woman. Srinagar Police have invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against those responsible for the attack. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the violence, stating that there is no justification for targeting innocent civilians and called for stronger measures to prevent such attacks, so people can feel safe in their daily lives.
